here’s the thing about equality that straight “allies” / people who say things like this don’t seem to get (even tho you try to make it sound like you do):
equal rights are not a little prize given by a majority when they decide that the minority has behaved well enough
if “equality” only comes because we have been quiet and timid enough and model enough minorities that straight people condescend to throw us something, i don’t want it. especially because if it is contingent upon our “proper behavior” in such a way, it will be attempted to be taken away the moment they think we step out of line.
